A labyrinth, a maze, a fantastic confusing world of corrugated metal and fresh produce; that is what the large market of Antigua (nearby Guatemala City) feels like the first (or tenth) time you go there. On multiple occasions I would fail to find a place within the market where I had been before. On one occasion I purchased from a vendor the highest quality macadamia nuts that I had ever eaten, I tried to go back to buy more, but could not find the vendor. On another occasion a very friendly, helpful, fruit vendor coached me on how to select the best quality amongst various fruits that I had not eaten before, I thanked him for his assistance, and he informed me that it was no problem, such assistance and honesty was how he won over customers; I thought to myself “Well, yes, I will come back, IF I can ever find my way back”. The locals of course find their way around just fine, “You couldn’t find the macadamia nut vendor? Oh, that is easy, you just take a couple lefts and rights...
